Why the Symposia Way to Spread the Spirit of Wizardry?

The purpose of our project is clearly stated in its title How to Turn Executives Into Wizards. That purpose cannot be achieved only through blogging and through the comments section or online discussions. We, therefore, considered many avenues like a series of talks by experts, workshops, seminars and competitions. All of these can be good platforms to spread the spirit of wizardry. But, we think that symposia are the best avenue to achieve that objective. We can choose a topic and all centres would conduct symposia. To begin with, we will decide the type of organisation, its basic constitution and rules and regulation. Once organised, it is also possible to have an online compendium of summaries of the various symposia for the benefit of all members and the general public through a separate website. Let us also give a thought to a presence on social media platforms. All these are preliminary thoughts and a lot of voluntary work will be involved. We invite your suggestions and comments

Shaping the Future of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. By Klaus Schwab Portfolio Penguin; Pages; 273; £14.99  A Guide  to Building a Better World Many are unaware of the full implications of the current Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). Most including businessmen and executives are underprepared to cash on the opportunities in 4IR and to prevent its formidable threats. It might come as a rude shock to them that the bugles are already sounding for the more gargantuan challenges of the   Fifth Industrial  Revolution(5IR). Schwab has been at the forefront in sensing and monitoring the signals of the epochal changes, (both positive and negative) of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He is the top motivator who coined the term 'Fourth Industrial Revolution'. Once you say the revolution is on the enormity is grasped. He not only spread the vitally important messages but took actions on his own, and also under the aegis of the World Economic Forum of which he is the founder and Exec

Stress Busters   * Success Boosters Now, it’s not Lonely@ the Top or @any Level * “It is strange to be known universally and yet be so lonely.” - Albert Einstein                                                   *“Many high profile executives exude confidence and carry an excellent presence and bearing about them, outwardly giving an impression that all is well…--some of the most successful leaders, however, have a lonely face behind the mask. - Barry T. Knight Loneliness is a terrible stressor. It is the greatest curse of humanity. And, Einstein’s ‘lonely- in- the -crowd’ feeling creates ‘misery in the plenty’. With ever-escalating complexities, uncertainties and the flat nature of organizations, tension, and misery are not only at the top but at all the levels, and both at the workplace and in homes. Loneliness leads to bottling-up of feelings and emotions and consequently tension and stress levels shoot-up. Stress can ruin health, career Acute and chronic stress can ruin health, car

Book Review - Super Wizard Coach for Silicon Valley's Wizard Executives

Image
Trillion Dollar Coach By - Eric Schmidt, Jonathan Rosenberg, Alan Eagle John Murray(Publishers); pages 217;  Rs 599  Bill Gates once told an interviewer, "Steve Jobs was a wizard…….(and) I was like a minor wizard". By that standard Bill Campbell, who was a ‘sounding board’, a coach, a mentor, and a friend of Steve Jobs must be considered a super coaching wizard. The book, 'Trillion Dollar  Coach' is indeed a playbook for business wizards, not only in the IT industry but for all business executives.   Bill Campbell coached Steve Jobs when he was re-building Apple from near bankruptcy to make it a company with a market valuation of several hundred billion dollars. Bill also worked side by side with Larry Page, Sergey Brin, and Eric Schmidt to build Google (now Alphabet) from a start-up to a company with a market capitalization of several billion dollars. He also coached many other billionaires (see the list below; it is not an exhaustive one). Taking into account the t

Bud the Executive Vice President of the Zagrum corporation admits and further adds  " I don't think I have ever gone a day--or perhaps an hour without betraying myself".   The self-betrayal which is the seed of self Deception is defined  as "an act contrary to what I feel should  do for another is called an act of 'Self- Betrayal?"The definition brings in its ambit all failures to do something one expects to do for others. Leadership and Self-Deception  Getting out of the Box By The Arbinger Institute Berrett- Korhler Publishers, Inc Pages - 221, Price - $17.95                                                                                                                                     Self-Deception - the Main Cause of Failure of Leaders, Families, and Companies                                                                                                                                    "Get out of the box and the solution will dawn on you." This or similar expressions have been hurled millions of times at puzzled and confused individuals and groups beset by tricky problems in organizations, whether in education, military or business. It is doubtful if any individual or group got any clue from this seemingly simple and clear advice.   It is to the credit of the Arbinger Institute (and more so to the writers, who have most magnanimously preferred to remain incognito) that their book &#

How to Become a Wizard

Ideas for Action (I) Develop Playfulness The examples of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Elon Musk in the earlier posts might have raised the questions  in the minds of many rather all ,why should I not become a wizard? What are the ways for anyone to be a wizard? Here we are giving the first guide post on way to wizardry. It is the simplest, the most obvious and at the same time toughest,  nay may be even impossible in some hardened  types : "I am what I am take me as i am" type. But converting the doubters is the real challenge; when they see wizards around living joyfully without ill effects on career or vocation they will quietly convert And spread the spirit because converts are more zealous.. There is a simple solution if you don't care what others say or feel;  But, a daunting one if you all the time self-audit your actions to please others ,or to conform to social norms.
